Something Else

Screw it, I’m plugging this song independently, I like it way more than the other three. And this I did over one night/morning combo.

Fractal Cosmology EP – Senior Project Retrospective

It’s been a few weeks now. Senior project night went down very well. There’s not much I can say about that except when you’re air-jamming to your own music for two hours you sort of lose it.

Senior Project – Days 16 – 17

Wednesday 4, Day 16; from 8 in the morning to 1 the next morning, I slavishly cobbled the rest of my project together.

Senior Project – Days 09 – 13

A bit of a recap because I was too busy working to write a post every day.

Senior Project – Day 08

Tuesday 28, Day 8: My phone survived waterboarding save one app, its failure probably unrelated anyway. From 9 to 1 I worked on “The Wasp and the Spider,” heading over to Alex’s house (finally) and working out “Title Track” from 1 to 4. Back home, I practiced the new piano parts for “Dyschronometria” until 5. I had piano lessons again from 7 to 8, for a total of 9 hours today. Total hours to date: 57.5 out of 100.

Senior Project – Day 07

Monday 26, Day 7: I finished scoring and lyric-writing “Dyschronometria”. Of course, the actual recording of it will include a drum machine track (yet to create…ugh…) and real instruments. Also, I didn’t score everything in, just what I knew I needed to lay down explicitly. That said, it is shaping up nicely. I now know what the most ambitious song will sound like. Worked from 11 to 3 and then from 7 to 10, for a total of 7 hours today. Total hours to date: 48.5

Senior Project – Day 06

What happened to day 5? Our family took a daycation out to go kayaking, then to Nelson’s Ledges, then to Burton for the rib burn-off. It was a ‘mystery ride’ so I didn’t see any of it coming. Phone got soaked, am in the process of drying it out, lets not talk about it.

Sunday 25, Day 6: will be scoring, from 10 to 5, but at 6:00 I’m heading over to Alex’s house to do some more workshopping and hopefully some initial recording of “Title Track”. I’m supposed to be taking pictures, but unless people enjoy pictures of me sitting at my computer tapping keys and moving a mouse within a notation program, you’ll be bored for a while. For now, all I can say is, the most ambitious song (“Dyschronometria”) is definitely earning its title. It is also the most awesome song.

Senior Project – Day 04

Friday 23, Day 4: Not much to report about Day 4. I spent 10-5 writing music, stopping in at the school around 3 to drop off some paperwork. I’m supposed to bring in some workshopped audio this upcoming Wednesday. Hours are not a problem, but if I’m crunched for time, I could present just the album as part of my project and label the entire project, music videos and all, as an “ongoing project” so it isn’t looked upon unfavorably on Project Night that I have fewer music videos than promised. Total hours to date: 32.5 out of 100.

Senior Project – Day 03

Thursday 22, Day 3: After briefly checking in with my sponsor this morning, I went back home to practice on mom’s new cajón. That sucked up a lot of time, but I developed some percussive patterns that I can use both in the ensemble show and in the album.
